LITTLES LOVE FALL MATH & LITERACY CENTERS are perfect for preschool & pre-k littles. This pack is filled with fun, engaging, & hands-on activities + a book project to help your little one build beginning math & literacy skills.
15 CENTERS: Check out the pictures above to see each activity. You can also check out THIS POST for more details. Each activity comes with detailed directions, supply list, and extension activities. There are also black/white versions of each activity.
Fall Vocabulary Words: Includes 15 fall-themed word cards. Each word comes in 4 different fonts: Uppercase, lowercase, uppercase traceable, and lowercase traceable. Also comes with a set of just the words (uppercase and lowercase) and just the pictures (giving students the chance to match them up). The possibilities with these cards are endless! Also includes 3 activity pages for students to write these words if you choose to do a “Write the Room” activity with them and 1 page of pictures for them to “Color the Room.”
Fall Play Dough Mats: Include 8 play dough mats with the cutest fall pictures: acorn, bushel, sunflower, pumpkin, rake, wheat, & 2 different types of leaves. Working with play dough is great to build up the small muscles in your little one’s fingers and wrists (fine motor skills).
Alphabet Hole Punch: There is one card for each letter of the alphabet. Your little one will punch a hole in all of the letters that match the letter in the middle of the card. If you don’t have hole punchers, have them cover the letters with a small manipulative, play dough, or mark them off with markers.
Compound Word Footballs: Match up the footballs to create compound words. Includes 16 compound words and a picture recording sheet for your little one to mark off the words they create.
Spider Sounds: This game is all about phonemic awareness (the ability to hear the individual sounds in words). It comes with spiderweb mats for numbers 1, 2, & 3, and 20 high-frequency word cards. You’ll read the word to your little one & help them determine how many sounds (not letters) that word has and sort it onto the correct spiderweb. This is a crucial skill that needs to be practiced before your little one learns to read.
ABC Scavenger Hunt: Hide these ABC cards all around the room and have your little one search for them. Includes uppercase and lowercase letters on fall-themed cards. Also includes a recording sheet for students to mark off the letters as they find them.
Rhymes with Fall: Choose a picture card and read it with your little one, then have them sort it on the mat (Rhymes with Fall OR Does Not Rhyme with Fall). Includes 30 picture cards (15 that rhyme with fall & 15 that don’t rhyme.)
At the Pumpkin Patch: The kids are on a trip to the Pumpkin Patch! Each kid has a pumpkin with a letter on it, and they can only pick a pumpkin with the matching picture sound on it. Put these cards in a sensory bin of black beans (soil) and watch your little one have a great time “picking” the pumpkins and working on letter sounds. Also includes a recording sheet to mark off each letter sound they pick.
Fall Sizes: Great way to work on sorting and putting shapes in order from largest to smallest. Includes 6 different sets of cards to put in order (pumpkins, scarecrows, corn, apples, sunflowers, & leaves).
Apple Orchard Shapes: Match the shapes on the apples to the shapes on the apple tree. Reviews 9 basic 2D shapes: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, rhombus, star, oval, pentagon, and trapezoid. Includes a recording sheet for students to mark off each shape they find.
Feed the Squirrel: Your little one will love feeding this fun & colorful squirrel! They will first choose a “recipe” card & place it on the mat. Then they’ll count out the correct amount of food to feed the squirrel. Includes 15 “recipe” cards and 15 food picture cards.
Colorful Owls: This activity is actually 3 dice games: 1) Roll and cover the owl (working on color recognition). 2) Roll and graph (working on bar graphs). 3) Roll and tally (working on tally charts). Your little one will also be working on subitizing as they name the number they see on the dice without having to count each individual dot.
Sunflower Counting: Have your little one choose a sunflower number & place it on the mat. Then have them add that many sunflower seeds onto the sunflower mat and circle the correct amount of sunflower seeds below the number (or cover them up). If you don’t have sunflower seeds, you can have your little one add other small manipulatives, such as mini erasers or pom poms, to the sunflower. Includes numbers 0-10.
Colorful Acorn Patterns: Your little one will work on duplicating, extending, and creating patterns using the colorful acorn cards. They will place the pattern card on the mat & create the pattern using acorn pictures. There are 10 patterns to duplicate/extend and 10 patterns to fill in the missing pictures for a total of 20 pattern cards.
Fall Number Mats: These number mats are perfect to use all fall! This activity includes numbers 1-10. Each mat includes the numeral, number word (in a traceable font), picture representation of the number, and ten frame. You can use these number mats in SO many ways!
BOOK PROJECT: This pack also comes with a book project based on the book Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper. (You will need to buy this book or borrow it from your local library. Book is NOT included with purchase.)
Art: Pumpkin Suncatcher (includes template)
