Spring is here, which means Easter is not too far behind. Here’s a super cute Feed the Bunny activity for preschool that you can use during your spring or Easter theme in your classroom.

FEED THE BUNNY ACTIVITY
Knowing the names and sounds of the letters is one of the first steps students need to master in order to read independently. This is called phonemic awareness. The more chances our little ones have to work with letter sounds, the better!
Feed the Bunny is the perfect way for students to practice letters & sounds during the springtime!
First, you’re going to want to prepare the bunny box. The directions for making the bunny box are included in the free download (which is at the bottom of this post).
If you don’t have a square box to make the bunny, no worries! You could use a brown lunch bag, bowl, or nothing at all…just print out the bunny face and pretend to feed it. It’s still a fun activity!
Next, cut out the carrots and have your students feed them to the bunny. Each carrot has a letter and a picture. You can use this activity in a few different ways, depending on your students’ skill level:
- ask your students to feed the bunny a certain letter
- ask your students to feed the bunny a certain letter sound
- cut the carrots in half and have your students match the letter to the correct picture before feeding the pieces to the bunny
- have your students mark off the letter they feed the bunny on their check-off sheet
SENSORY BIN IDEAS
You can increase the engagement of this activity by adding the carrots to a sensory bin! One idea is to use a sensory filler that looks like soil, such as black beans, dirt, kinetic sand, or coffee grounds.
If you don’t have any of those on hand, no worries! Some other great sensory bin fillers include colorful rice, Easter basket grass, shredded paper, pom poms, or colorful pasta.
