POEM OF THE MONTH

These Monthly Poems are perfect to use with your preschool, pre-k, & kindergarten littles to develop oral language, speaking & listening skills, phonemic awareness, rhyming skills, & sign language.

This pack includes one unique poem per month that was written by me. Each poem includes a link to a YouTube video where I teach your little ones sign language to accompany the poem.

 

Monthly Poem Titles:

  • August: I Love to Learn
  • September: Apple Picking
  • October: The Pumpkins in the Patch
  • November: Turkey Day
  • December: I’m a Little Snowman
  • January: There Was a Little Penguin
  • February: On this Special Valentine’s Day
  • March: The Black & Yellow Honey Bee
  • April: APRIL
  • May: Ice Cream in a Cone
  • June: Beach Day
  • July: Let’s Go Camping

 

Ideas for Using these Poems:

  • Send the poem home with your students and have them practice it with their families. Challenge them to memorize it by the end of the month.
  • Have students take turns being the Poem of the Month leader as you recite the poem each day in class. (This is a great Circle Time or Morning Meeting activity.)
  • Have parents record their child saying the poem & send it to you. You could then create a video with clips of each child saying the poem.
  • Create a “Poem of the Month” journal for each student and have them glue the poem inside. Then they can draw a picture or create a craft related to that poem. This makes a great keepsake for the end of the year!
  • Copy this poem onto pocket chart strips. Have your students put the poem in order.
  • If you’re a parent at home, help your little one memorize this poem during the month. Then have them recite it for family & friends at the end of the month.
