THE GRUFFALO BOOK ACTIVITIES

These preschool & pre-k book-inspired activities are perfect to use after you read The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. (Book is not included in your purchase). They can be used at home or in your early childhood classroom. Each activity comes in both color and black/white.

The activities in this pack include:

LITERACY: The Opposites Path: This super fun board game will have your child building oral vocabulary, which is an important part of reading development. Their goal is to help the mouse get safely through the forest. They will roll the dice, land on a word, and name the opposite of that word. But better watch out…if they land on a predator, they have to go back!

MATH: Forest Animal Ten Frame: Your little one will work on counting and subitizing with this game! Have them choose a number card out of the bag and match that card to the correct ten frame. Includes numbers and ten frames for 0-20.

FINE MOTOR: Forest Animal Tracing: Your little one will be developing the strength in their hands by tracing a variety of different lines. They can also work on the beginning sound of each animal’s name and trace that letter. Includes 9 tracing strips.

GROSS MOTOR: Follow the Forest Path: Can your little one make it safely through the forest? They will follow the forest path and work on number order and/or reading number words. Includes footprints for numbers 0-20.

CRAFT: Monster Bag: This Monster Bag is super fun to make after reading this book and can be used with the math activity! (*Supplies are not included.)

SNACK: Monster No-Bake Cookies: I’ve been making these no-bake chocolate & peanut butter cookies since I was a kid…but this time, we turned them into monsters to go along with our book! So delicious and fun! Recipe included in this pack. (*Supplies are not included.)

READING RESPONSE: Journal Writing Page & Bookmark: Your little one will have the opportunity to draw/write about the book & keep their special bookmark for years!
