SCAREDY SQUIRREL BOOK ACTIVITIES
These preschool & pre-k book-inspired activities are perfect to use after you read Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watt. (Book is not included in your purchase). They can be used at home or in your early childhood classroom. Each activity comes in both color and black/white.
The activities in this pack include:
LITERACY: Where’s the Squirrel?: This activity gives your little one the chance to practice positional words, which helps them develop vocabulary skills and oral language comprehension. Includes 4 squirrel friends and 9 position cards.
MATH: Comparing Acorn Numbers: Your little one will be developing number sense and working on counting with this activity. First, they’ll choose two numbers and place them on the mat. Then they’ll count out acorns and determine which one is bigger. Includes number cards 0-20 and 42 small acorn cards.
FINE MOTOR: Emergency Kit: Your little one will be developing the strength in their hands by cutting and gluing items into their emergency kit. The items are the same as the items from the story, so your little one can use this activity as a way to retell the story, too!
GROSS MOTOR: Squirrel Schedule: Get your little one up and moving while practicing the days of the week with this fun gross motor game! Includes Days of the Week labels and 14 activity cards (2 for each day of the week).
CRAFT: Tree on the Wall: This Tree on the Wall is fun to make and use with the Literacy Activity from this pack! (*Supplies are not included.)
SNACK: Graham Cracker Tree: This snack is perfect to make & eat after reading this book! (*Supplies are not included.)
READING RESPONSE: Journal Writing Page & Bookmark: Your little one will have the opportunity to draw/write about the book & keep their special bookmark for years!
